Veggies galore

Over the years while selling compost, our customers would always say how great their gardens were growing. These high praises ended up being the motivating factor in starting our own vegetable farm. In 2010, Nate began growing in a 30' x 72' greenhouse and then one year later he broke out a half acre plot for root crops that could be stored until he found a market for them. Over the years, Nate began selling his produce at farmers markets and to local wholesalers such as the community food co-op in Bozeman and Root Cellar Foods, among others. Since 2016 we are now growing on a total of 18 acres, as well as in seven greenhouses and five cat tunnels with a crew of farmers dedicated to local, certified organic produce in Montana.

In 2024, we will begin growing 9 acres of vegetables and 9 acres of cover crop. The cover crop will be grown so we grow the nutrients for the farm and not import them. The cover crop will be no-till drilled and grazed with our goats to control weeds and to terminate the cover crop. we believe that integrating livestock into our organic system plan will improve our growing practices over time and give our goats a diverse diet for tasty cheese. Legumes will pull nitrogen from the atmosphere and sequester it into our soil. a full year of soil building with cover crops has been a dream for a long time and we are making that dream come true this year!
