Amaltheia Organic Dairy is a family run farm located just outside of Bozeman, Montana in the foothills of the Bridger Mountains. We are a certified organic farm that has been handcrafting award winning goat cheeses for over 20 years. We utilize our by-products, creating our own compost, as well as grow a wide variety of vegetables. We sell wholesale to grocery stores, select restaurants, two local farmers markets and began a winter CSA share in 2022. We strive to have the farm be a fun, efficient and gratifying place to work.
Job Description
Amaltheia Organic Dairy is a diverse organic farm based in Belgrade, Montana. In 2022 we expanded to 9 acres of vegetable production. This posting is for the vegetable production portion of the farm.
We are seeking a Volunteer Lead for the 2026 season and beyond. For all of our positions we are looking for people who are positive, hard and fast workers, who easily take on responsibilities, and can work productively both in groups and individually. This is a full time position, June - October with the option for year-round work. We are only accepting applicants that can commit to the full season with preference for applicants that would like to commit for at least 2 seasons.
Harvest and Volunteer Lead requirements include:
Previous experience working at a farm preferred but will train the right person.
Reliability is a must.
Great attention to detail. We will show you how we’d like our booth set up every time.
Passion for local farming with an understanding of Amaltheia’s mission.
Effective communication skills
Ability to take and follow verbal instruction
Drivers license and reliable transportation to work
Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and consistently without strain
Able to stand for long periods of time
Leading a crew of volunteers & our own crew (ranging from 6 - 15 people) in harvest on Sunday’s
Ensuring tasks are completed correctly, efficiently, and safely with attention to detail and quality standards. This includes training crew members in proper techniques and providing constructive feedback to improve crew performance as well as managing transitions between projects to maintain a good workflow and pace throughout the day
Maintaining a good attitude and contributing to positive team morale
Keeping the farm running smoothly in the absence of managers, which includes independent decision-making and good time management
Harvest vegetables according to farm’s standards
Contribute to a safe and orderly working environment
Schedule & Hours:
The position’s start date is flexible but the target start date is ASAP. The season normally winds down in late October (weather dependent). Year round work is an option for the right person.
This position entails a 4-5 day work week - Sunday - Wednesday. Could add Thursday if more hours are wanted. Expect a range of 40+ hours per week throughout the season.
HOURS
Sunday (CSA Harvest & Volunteer Lead) - 9 AM to 5 PM
Monday (Field Crew) - 7 AM to 5 PM
Tuesday (Field Crew)- 7 AM to 5PM
Wednesday (Field Crew) - 7 AM to 5 PM
Compensation:
Starting wage for this position is $18/hr or DOE. In addition to an hourly wage, employees receive paid lunches and we provide a weekly “employee CSA” which includes our vegetables & goat cheeses.
